The Literary Review Group

The Literary Review Group is a carefully curated panel of 14 experienced Literary Reviewers and Beta Readers who work with both Russell-Alexander Publishing authors and external authors.

Each member of the Group operates independently, bringing their own reading experience, insight, and perspective, while working within a clear professional framework designed to ensure consistency, fairness, and transparency for authors.

Literary Reviews

Our Literary Reviewers provide independent, honest, and reader-focused book reviews, including Advance Reviews.

Reviews are written with integrity and care, offering genuine reader reactions rather than editorial critique. Each review is delivered to the author within a clearly defined timeframe.

The review fee includes:

• delivery of the written review to the author
• placement of the review on Amazon following publication

Where an author chooses to send a signed copy of the published book to the Reviewer, the review may also be:

• placed on Goodreads
• featured on the Reviewer’s chosen social media platform

This approach supports visibility while keeping the review process transparent and ethical.

Beta Reading

As Beta Readers, members of the Group provide a thorough, developmental read-through of a manuscript.

Beta Reads are designed to help authors identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement from a reader’s perspective. Feedback is honest, constructive, and focused on elements such as clarity, pacing, character development, structure, and overall reading experience.

Each Beta Read is completed and returned within an agreed timeframe.

Fees and Transparency

All Literary Reviewers and Beta Readers are independent contractors. To ensure clarity and fairness for authors, the Group has agreed standardised fees for their services.

Book Review Fees

• LRG Reviewer – £10
• LRG Advanced Reviewer – £20
• LRG Principal Reviewer – £30

Beta Reader Fees

• LRG Beta Reader – £20
• LRG Advanced Beta Reader – £40
• LRG Principal Beta Reader – £60

Choosing a Reviewer or Beta Reader

Each Reviewer and Beta Reader has an individual profile outlining their background, reading interests, and experience. Contact details can be found within each profile, allowing authors to make direct contact and choose the reader best suited to their book.
